HiLASE Centre, a part of the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, is a world-class research facility specializing in developing advanced laser technologies and their industrial and space applications. As a leader in high-energy diode-pumped solid-state laser systems, HiLASE combines excellence in fundamental research with cutting-edge innovation to drive scientific and technological advancements. Our mission is to push the limits of laser technology, bridge the gap between academia and industry, and contribute to the prosperity of the Czech and European economies, improving daily life, and a sustainable future.

HiLASE’s breakthrough laser systems, featuring high repetition rates and advanced technical parameters, enable new possibilities for laser-based applications. These technologies pave the way for advancements in industrial processes such as Laser Shock Peening, Laser Micromachining, and Laser Induced Damage Threshold testing. Furthermore, they support critical developments in the space sector, including Earth Observation, Space Situational Awareness, and active debris removal. By leveraging state-of-the-art laser technology, HiLASE is shaping the future of both terrestrial and space-based applications.

FZU - Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences

Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences (FZU) is a public research institute, conducting fundamental and applied research in physics. The present research programme of the Institute comprises six branches of physics: particle physics, physics of condensed matter, solid-state physics, optics, plasma and laser physics. FZU is fully involved in fundamental research at the European and world level. With more than 500 scientists, FZU is the largest institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS). The institute hosts postdoctoral researchers through a number of mobility programmes such as the Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions.

CARDAM

CARDAM is a unique research and development workplace dealing with the implementation of innovative and technically and technologically advanced solutions and products using advanced mathematical simulations and additive manufacturing technology. CARDAM provides comprehensive engineering solutions for the development of new products and production processes, and it supports companies in developing their new knowledge and know-how in the field.

CARDAM’s goal is to create technical and economic added value for all customers based on effective cooperation between the Czech Academy of Sciences and industrial enterprises. The founding members and owners of CARDAM are the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences and two leading, steadily growing Czech companies, one of which is active in the field of precision engineering and the other in the foundry industry. The Institute of Physics covers a wide range of science and technology fields that pervade additive design and manufacturing. These important resources allow CARDAM to build on current and historical know-how developed by Czech science. The key incentive for industrial enterprises to found CARDAM was to satisfy their long-term need to create a common platform for cooperation with the academic environment. This innovative platform contributes to the development of the future product portfolio and new production procedures, and it enables a dynamic transition to additive design and manufacturing technologies in the Czech Republic and in Europe.

Czech Optical Cluster

The Czech Optical Cluster (COC) is a non-profit organization founded in 2017, uniting more than 40 members, including science and industry representatives in the field of optics and related disciplines. Its mission is to create a collaborative platform that fosters knowledge sharing, nnovation, and competitiveness, while promoting the field of optics and improving conditions for its development in the Czech Republic.

Key Pillars of the Cluster COC focuses on six main areas of expertise:

  4. Laser Technology and Applications
  5. Microscopy
  6. Optical Quantum Technologies


Objectives COC aims to strengthen its members' influence and drive innovation through:

ELI ERIC

The Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI) is a research facility with the world’s largest and most advanced collection of high-power lasers. As an international user facility dedicated to multi-disciplinary science and research applications ELI provides access to world-class high-power, high-repetition-rate laser systems and enables cutting-edge research in physical, chemical, materials, and medical sciences, as well as breakthrough technological innovations. ELI operates as a single multi-site organisation with complementary facilities specialised in different fields of research with extreme light, ELI Beamlines located in Dolní Břežany (Czech Republic) and ELI ALPS in Szeged (Hungary).

 

ELI’s core mission is making the ELI Facilities available to the scientific community as a single international organisation, with unified governance and management. The ELI User Programme offers a single access point to all capabilities at the ELI Facilities. Access is competitive, international, free of charge and based on scientific excellence. ELI also offers proprietary access opportunities to the industry. Since launching the ELI User Programme in mid 2022, ELI has opened two Calls per year. With each Call increasingly more instruments and equipment are made available to the external user community for research and the technical capability of the equipment continues to ramp up until the full scope is reached. ELI ERIC spearheads scientific endeavours in high-impact societal domains, advancing technologies for laser-driven fusion energy reactors, nuclear waste management, compact and cost-efficient particle accelerators, or revolutionary imaging solutions, aimed at widespread application and commercialisation across science, industry, medicine, and security.

 

Junior Achievement Czech

JA Czech is part of the international nonprofit educational organization JA Worldwide. Its mission is to provide young people with practical economic education, develop their knowledge and skills, inspire them, and support them in taking an active approach to life, enabling them to assert themselves, succeed, and be well-prepared for the labor market. Junior Achievement is accredited by the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports of the Czech Republic. In addition to providing methodological and teaching materials, JA Czech offers professional training for teachers who implement its programs.

JA Czech is a member of the Expert Group for Supporting the Development of Entrepreneurial Competencies, led by the National Institute for Vocational Education, as well as the Working Group for Financial Education, managed by the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic.

Collaboration with businesses is the foundation of the educational system. Managers give lectures to students, participate in course instruction, and contribute to the leadership of the organization.

Central Bohemian Innovation Centre (SIC)

Central Bohemian Innovation Centre (SIC) is an innovation agency that has been fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in Central Bohemia since 2015. Established by the Central Bohemian Region and four academic institutions, SIC primarily supports companies focusing on innovation and high value-added products—assisting them from startup to global market expansion. SIC also provides support to research organisations, helping to bring their discoveries and technologies to market and society. The centre actively develops the region’s innovation ecosystem by building new partnerships between startups, large corporations, investors, and research institutions, both from the Czech Republic and abroad. SIC is a certified member of the European Business & Innovation Centre Network (EBN).

Science and Technology Advanced Region (STAR)

The STAR Research & Innovation Cluster is a leading science and technology hub in the Czech Republic, uniting research institutions, innovative enterprises, and industry partners. Focused on advancing fundamental and applied research, STAR fosters collaboration between academia and industry to drive technological innovation and economic growth. Located south of Prague, STAR represents an ecosystem spanning the municipalities of Vestec, Zlatníky-Hodkovice, and Dolní Břežany—one of the fastest-growing economic regions in the European Union.  This environment provides optimal conditions for scientific research, industrial innovation, and a high quality of life.


STAR is also a member of the Brain4Industry consortium, alongside the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences (FZU), the HiLASE Centre, CARDAM, the Central Bohemian Innovation Center, and the Institute of Thermomechanics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, further strengthening its role in cutting-edge research and technological development.

AKONEER

Founded in 2010, AKONEER designs and manufactures advanced laser micromachining systems for industrial and scientific applications. Specializing in machining semiconductors, solar cells, and ultra-hard materials, we deliver high-precision solutions to top universities, research centers, and industries worldwide. As a member of Lithuania’s Laser & Engineering Technologies Cluster, we actively participate in international R&D projects and have been recognized with national awards, including the "Innovation Award" and "Product of the Year."


CENTER FOR PHYSICAL SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY (FTMC)

FTMC is Lithuania’s largest research institution, specializing in laser technologies, optoelectronics, nuclear physics, chemistry, and nanotechnologies. Founded in 2010, it drives scientific excellence and high-tech innovation.

FTMC's mission is to advance science for the benefit of society and technology, guided by our motto: Be inventive.

The main activity of FTMC is to carry out fundamental and applied research as well as experimental investigations in the fields of physics, chemistry and technologies, which are of utmost importance to the state, society and business. Junior Achievement Lithuania

„JA Lithuania"​ (in Lith. „Lietuvos Junior Achievement"​ (LJA)), established in 1993, is a non-profit organization, which promotes and executes various theoretical and practical educational programs of market economy in Lithuanian schools. „JA Lithuania"​ is a member of the Junior Achievement Worldwide, which was established in 1919.


Mission of LJA is to inspire and educate young Lithuanians to value free enterprise, to understand business and economics, to develop entrepreneurial and leadership skills. Young people should be allowed to believe in their own creative powers and use them as a basis for creating value, developing workplaces and taking responsibility in the community. The ultimate goal is to direct young people’s attention to their own possibilities to improve their living standards and change their lives. No less important goal is to spread know-how about business and foster favourable conditions for cooperation between school and businesses.

Lithuanian Innovation Centre

The Lithuanian Innovation Centre‘s mission is providing innovation support services by implementing Lithuanian innovation policy. The main strategic goal of LIC is the increasing of Lithuanian international competitiveness by stimulating innovations in business. This goal is divided into the following objectives:

Lithuanian Laser Association (LLA)

Founded in 2005, the Lithuanian Laser Association (LLA) unites key players in Lithuania's laser and photonics sector, fostering innovation, research, and industry growth.

LLA strengthens Lithuania’s global competitiveness in laser and photonics technologies by promoting collaboration between science, education, and industry.

The main focus is on:

  • Advancing laser and photonics R&D and industry.
  • Supporting innovation, entrepreneurship, and international partnerships.
  • Aligning research funding with industry needs.

Junior Achievement Ukraine

Junior Achievement Ukraine (JA Ukraine) is a part of Junior Achievement Worldwide - one of the world’s largest and most influential youth-serving nonprofit organizations that for more than 100 years have been helping young people to gain knowledge and skills necessary to form a successful world economy. JA programs are successfully delivered in 40 European countries and in more than 100 countries worldwide, covering more than 17 million students each year.


The main goal of JA Ukraine is to develop and popularize educational programs for young Ukrainians on the basis of economics and entrepreneurship. It reaches the goal by establishing and strengthening relationships between the private sector, the public sector and youth in accordance with the principles and standards of Junior Achievement.

JA Ukraine's mission is to educate and raise economically intelligent young Ukrainians: prepared for success in various sectors of the economy, initiative, creative, inveterate and confident in themselves and their future. Last year in Ukraine JA programs covered more than 10 000 participants.

Lviv Polytechnic National University
